GCSE Maths Course Outline
You’ll complete six formative assessments during your GCSE Maths course and two exams on completion of your course. You can elect to sit the exams to either Foundation level (for grades G-C) or Higher level (for grades D-A).
Assessment Breakdown

Formative Assessments 1-6: each assessment consists of between 12 and 20 questions, most having multiple-parts (i.e. Question 1 a, b, c, etc.). Students intending to sit the exams to Foundation level will not be required to answer every question.
Exam 1: a paper consisting of questions which must be completed without the aid of a calculator. This exam must be completed within 1 hour and 30 minutes (Foundation) or 2 hours (Higher), and is worth 50% of your overall grade.
Exam 2: a paper consisting of questions which may be completed with the aid of a calculator. This exam must be completed within 1 hour and 30 minutes (Foundation) or 2 hours (Higher), and is worth 50% of your overall grade.
Notes
Formative assessments are intended to help both you and your tutor measure your progress through the course, highlighting any areas where revision is necessary. Formative assessments do not, however, count towards your final grade.
Exams for GCSE Maths are held in June of each year. Please note that exam fees are additional to your course fees.
