Course Overview
The course is designed to provide you with all the basic skills and knowledge to enable you to successfully understand your pet and the care of pets.
Pre-requisites
You don't need any previous experience to take this course.
Distance Learning
The course is designed for study by distance learning at work or at home. Students receive course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support.
Assessment details
Assessment takes the form of a series of tutor marked assignments and there is no final exam. There is no word count for these assignments; however, you do have to prove to your tutor that you have fully understood the questions asked.
Support
As a student of UK Open Learning you will receive full tutor support for a year from the date you receive the course. You can contact your tutor by e-mail or post. To complete this course will take in the region of 90 study hours which can be spread over a 12 month period to suit the student.
Qualification
Level 2 Award in Pet Care, Plus a UK Open Learning Diploma.
At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Level 2 NCFE Award certificate of achievement. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 2 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland”

NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.
