Course Duration and Structure
12 days including revision and practical examination. The course is run on a day release basis (i.e. one day per week). Exams are in March, June, September and December.
The NEBOSH General Certificate covers the main legal requirements for health and safety in the UK, identification and control of workplace hazards, and the practical application of this knowledge. It is divided into three units each of which is assessed separately:-
• NGC1: Management of Health and Safety;
• NGC2: Controlling Workplace Hazards;
• NGC3: Health and Safety Practical Application.
Examinations for both NGC1 and NGC2 are two hour written exams completed on the same day. NGC3 is a practical assessment which consists of carrying out a safety inspection and preparing a brief management report.
