A part-time course preparing you for providing Traditional ('Foot') Massage in a professional environment. The Practitioner Diploma leads to a Vocational Qualification. It is not a leisure course. Excellent for qualified beauty therapists to expand their skills; an essential prerequisite for those who wish to progress onto Advanced Reflex Zoning Techniques (such as Vertical, Swedish or Ear / Hand Reflexology) and for those who wish to begin a new career and are competent, confident learners.

Course Content:
Learners will watch tutor demonstrations of Reflexology techniques and practice on one another. There will be detailed theory content including a full historical & developmental contemporary context, eco-holistic perspective, preparation, consultation and practice. Learners will be assessed practically through observation on external clients (supplied by learner) both progressively and in a final performance. Learners must achieve a minimum of two competent consecutive assessments prior to the final performance. There will be an end theory test to assess knowledge and understanding. Students will put together a comprehensive portfolio of reference evidence.
Entry Requirements:
A level 3 Diploma in Massage, Acupressure or equivalent is a pre-requisite. It is necessary for all learners to have an up-to-date Health & Safety Diploma and an Anatomy and Physiology Diploma. Copies of prior qualifications must be provided at enrolment on the course or can be studied concurrently. You need to be aged 18+ and be well motivated to work at home as well as at during lessons. You will be required to have an informal enrolment interview.
Progression routes:
Successful completion of the course leads to a recognised qualification and enables the learner obtain insurance as a Practising Massage Therapist and enter employment. You will be able to progress automatically onto the Practitioner Diploma in Indian Head Massage and also the Aesthetic Certificates (such as Manicure or Dermal Therapy) for those who want to offer a diverse range of skills. Learners can progress to Advanced Reflexology qualifications for which Traditional Reflexology is a pre-requisite. Most learners can go on to lead a successful and wealthy career within the industry.
Achievement:
On successful completion of the course, learners will receive a recognised certificate from Southport Training Studio accredited by The Guild of Professional Therapists and be able to obtain insurance to practice.
Duration:
21 hours. (9 weeks; 3 hours a week, evenings or weekends). Lunch is provided for full days; light refreshments for part days / evenings.
