Communication Skills - Assertiveness Without Aggression

Assertiveness is based on a philosophy of personal responsibility and an awareness of the rights of other people. Being Assertive means being honest with yourself and others. It means having the ability to say directly what it is you want, you need or you feel, but not at the expense of other people.
Understanding assertive behaviour is key to ensuring effective relationships and achieving mutually acceptable outcomes. Learning how to deal with aggression or passivity by effective assertion is an invaluable tool as assertive individuals tend to achieve greater results.
