You are an experienced/senior consultant with a wealth of client experience, covering various sectors and industries. But just how good a consultant are you? Do you offer your clients the extra value that they expect - given that you typically may charge more than twice that of a 'less experienced' consultant? You are likely to already have knowledge of all the tools and techniques there are to learn. There are no 'secrets' to learn - or are there? This course continues with the belief, first explored in our 'Core Consulting Skills' course, that following a ‘consultancy process’ can transform client businesses and ensure realisation of their strategic objectives, at the same time achieving your personal objectives of revenue generation. However, this course centres on you - the special ingredient that makes a real difference to developing profitable client relationships which translate into major sales wins.

Course Outcomes/Benefits of Attending:

This course involves a significant step change from other training programmes in the 'Consulting Skills Series' - being predominantly experiential by design.

A consultancy process model is used as a base line for the course (prior knowledge of this is achieved through the pre-reading of a supporting handbook and attendance on the 'Core Consulting Skills' course); but the emphasis will be much more on skill-building through peer feedback rather than the development of new knowledge.

Participants will work in teams on several major exercises that have all been drawn from the real world of consultancy. At the end of each exercise there will be the opportunity for in-depth review and feedback using a sophisticated ‘advanced consulting’ model, so enabling them to build up a picture of their own strengths and weaknesses.

Therefore a significant element of this programme will involve personal strength assessment, through the use of peer feedback.

In support of this profile will be a series of small group coaching sessions, designed to focus on the development of personal development action plans.

By the end of this course you will be able to plan, carry out and review the effectiveness of your consulting interventions.

The Learning Experience:

A highly participative course where participants will experiment with a range of approaches and draw on each others' experiences. With a mixture of tutor input, plenary discussions, syndicate exercises and self-assessment questionnaires, each used to develop deeper understand of the issues facing consultants as they attempt to undertake consultancy assignments.

Participants will also have the opportunity, through the use of CCTV and the self assessment questionnaires to monitor the changes in their skills and behaviour - towards effective consultancy skills/interventions - during the course. The course also involves participants working through an interactive 'live' consultancy project.

There is an emphasis on participative exploration. A handbook of best practice guidelines together with a set of 'learning helpcards' supplement this course and are also provided.

The structure of the programme can vary to meet the particular needs of the group. The most effective structure is a modular one based on the principles of action learning. In outline the course programme consists:
