MANAGING DIVERSITY
This one day workshop will enhance managers' understanding of diversity, equipping them with the skills they need to effectively manage diversity. Delegates will participate in practical exercises that demonstrate how their existing management skills can be applied to diversity. The workshop will increase managers' existing knowledge of diversity issues, looking at the Business Case for Diversity and discussing recent updates to employment law such as the Employment Equality Regulations covering Sexual Orientation and Religion or Belief. The workshop will look at live workplace simulations allowing delegates to practise the skills they need to ensure they harness the diversity within their teams and mainstream diversity awareness into their Performance Management Systems.
What is the Aim of the workshop?
The workshop will enable participants to:
Have a raised awareness of diversity management
Have increased confidence and understanding to manage differences in relation to performance assessment
Recognise the potential impact of behaviour, both conscious and unconscious, and how this relates to good practice
Begin to identify actions needed to ensure all staff members are managed effectively and fairly
Who should participate?
This one day workshop is for managers who require practical skills to manage diversity effectively as well as an increased understanding of diversity issues within the workplace. Participants will already have a basic awareness of diversity and this workshop seeks to provide a more comprehensive, pragmatic approach.
What does the package include?
One workshop for up to 16 participants, including workbooks for delegates to use in the workshop and then keep for future reference
One Astar facilitator and a team of professional actors - this workshop uses Astar's Theatre for Learning
A one hour phone consultation before the workshop to ensure outcomes and context are relevant
An evaluation summary of learning outcomes and action points and the opportunity to discuss this with an Astar Consultant
What do we need to provide?
Astar asks that the client provide the following:
The workshop venue: 1 main conference room (of suitable capacity) and 1 syndicate room (if possible) with appropriate equipment (chairs, flipcharts, etc.)
Lunch and refreshments for the participants, facilitator and acting team
If your organisation has any policies relating to diversity that you would like included in the workshop material, these must be supplied 15 working days prior to the workshop
Astar will need to be notified of all final details (delegate numbers, venue address, etc.) 10 working days prior to the workshop
