Introduction
The demands of managers within business require them to achieve their business and personal objectives through the best use of all resources available to them; to be able to harness necessary technological processes; manage financial resources and display a maturity to manage the most challenging resource – people.
Often the individuals required to help achieve objectives are outside the direct line control of the manager. The ultimate use of positional power in these cases is not, therefore an alternative. In addition, difficulties can be encountered when the manager requires the co-operation of individuals and / or departments that choose not to or do not see it as their role to fulfil the requests of the manager. Moreover, perceptions can often seem to offer the conclusion that other parties deliberately confound the work of the manager. Managing within a situation of conflicting roles and personalities can easily give rise to conflict and hostility, particularly when other’s agendas or objectives differ from that of the manager. These impasses can lead to breakdown in communication, open hostility and subsequent non-achievement of job requirements.
The purpose of both two-day workshops is to help delegates clarify, communicate and achieve that which is required for mutual co-operation in task management.
