Students must have either a previous ACS COCN1 certificate, or an NVQ in commercial gas work, or recently completed an auditable course of training in commercial gas work, or an NVQ in plumbing or an allied trade, or relevant, long experience within the gas industry, which will need to be verified by their employer, or similar person.

This course is designed is the first component of the ACS (Accredited Certification Scheme for Individual Gas Fitting Operatives) relative to commercial gas work. This course covers current practices in the areas of installation, ventilation, flues, controls and legislation.
COURSE CONTENT:
· Gas Safety Legislation
· Gas Emergency Actions and Procedures
· Characteristics of Combustion and the Use of Flue Analysis Equipment
· Commercial Ventilation Requirements
· Installation of Pipework and Fittings (up to and including 28 mm in size
· Checking and/or Setting Commercial Supply and Meter Regulators
· Identification of Unsafe Situations and the Use of Emergency Notices and Warning Labels
· The Operation of and Positioning of Emergency Isolation Controls and Valves
· Checking and Setting Commercial Appliances/Equipment Burner Pressures up to and Including 21 mbar
· The Operation and Checking of Appliance Gas Safety Devices and Controls
· Commercial Appliance Flueing Requirements
· Re-establish Existing Gas Supply and Relight Commercial Appliances
