This course is designed to give those attending an in depth appreciation of the function the CDM Coordinator (CDMC) plays in the construction process as set out in the 2007 Regulations.
The CDMC's responsibilities have been increased by the new Regs. Consequently the CDMC has to be adept at obtaining positive co-operation from the other parties, as his/her power to ensure they discharge their duties effectively are limited.
Course Outline:
Overview of the new Regs. - putting particular emphasis on the how they affect the CDMC and including the relevance of incorporation of the Construction (Health Safety & Welfare) Regs in to the new document.
Overview of the associated HS&W legislation which impinge on the new Regs e.g. HS at Work Act, Management Regs, Work Place Regs, Working at Height Regs and others
The ACoP and the Sector specific Guidance
Appointment of CDMC and the CDMC competence assessment
Appreciation of the roles of the other duty holders in the context of the CDMC's role
Competence assessment of other duty holders
Detailed analysis of the CDMC's role
Ensuring cooperation from the other duty holders - effective management
Notifiable Projects - including information to be supplied to HSE
Pre-construction information
H&S Plan
H&S File
Throughout the course - which will be highly participative - group & individual exercise will be used to reinforce the course material.
There will be an end of course assessment - with certificate of success issued by Symmons Madge Associates
