The key objective of this course is to learn how to enhance group creativity and problem-solving through applying 'Technical Limit' thinking and other creativity and decision-making tools. In particular you will learn how to:
* promote creativity and innovation in a technical, even traditional environment
* overcome resistance to new ideas and any 'not invented here' responses
* utilise 'Technical Limit' methodology as a performance optimisation tool
* stimulate learning and After Action Reviews
* recognise the benefits and compensate for shortfalls of current knowledge management systems
* apply the tools - brainstorming; wishlists; metaphors; 6 Hats Thinking; Six Sigma Techniques
The following case studies will be used to create an interactive and applied learning environment:
1. Assess 'Paradigms' (including traditional 'not invented here' responses)
2. Apply 'Technical Limit' methodology; Boston Matrix and Pareto Analysis. Review others, such as Ishikawa, SIPOCC, FMEA
3. Brainstorming and Six Hats Thinking
4. Forcefield analysis to build the action plan to improve creativity and decision-making in your group or department upon your return to work
5. Complete the “Problem Solving and Decision-making Profile” self-assessment and workbooks to determine your problem solving and decision-making ability and to suggest how you might improve your skills in the future
