The objectives of the course are to enable delegates to:
- Be able to operate the machine safely and correctly in accordance with manufactures' instructions and accepted good practice.
- Carry out a pre-shift inspection.
- Be able to load and unload pallets as required.
- Understand the causes of instability of the truck and loads.
- Have an understanding of responsibilities under Health and Safety at Work 1974 and other current relevant legislation.
Candidates will participate in theory lessons and practical demonstrations / exercise, all of which are highlighted by the use of OHP & Videos covering.
- Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.
- Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998.
- Other current relevant regulations.
- Introduction to machine.
- Pre-shift inspections.
- Components and main types of lift trucks.
- Operators Safety Code.
- Handling loaded / unloaded pallets and difficult shaped loads.
The certificate for this course is valid for 3 years, then the candidate has to go through a 1-day Refresher Course.
