This course aims to give the candidates the ability to:

- Identify the truck type.
- Identify the main components and explain their basic functions.
- Identify all hand and foot-operated controls and instruments.
- Explain their function.
- Drive the unladen truck, under control in a straight line in an unrestricted area and on level ground, forwards and in reverse.
- Drive on rough terrain.
- Position the truck accurately in relation to obstacles and loads.
- Identify hydraulic components and explain their function.
- Operate hydraulic controls smoothly and correctly.
- Explain the factors that may affect the stability of the lift truck.
- Carry out systematic routine inspection of truck.
- Complete log book entries.
- Explain the dangers of overloading and take steps to avoid this unsafe condition.
- Explain the meaning of "Load security" and "Load Integrity".
- Stack and de-stack both flat and corner-post pallets, etc. to maximum lift height of truck.
- Stack and de-stack bulk packs on stacks to maximum safe stackable height.
- Stack and de-stack other load handling equipment to maximum safe stackable height.
- Handling / transporting loads over rough terrain.
- Drive unladen and laden truck, under control, over rough terrain.
- drive unladen and laden truck, under control, on ramps & inclines.
- Load and unload palletised goods, containers, bulk packs, machinery, non-palletised loads etc. from both sides of flat-bed and curtain-sided vehicles or trailers.
- Attaching the truck to the carrying vehicle.
- Detaching the truck from the carrying vehicle.
- Appreciate the need to operate trucks safely and correctly and to observe the company and site safety rule.

The certificate is valid for 3 years and has to be renewed by a 1-day Refresher Course.

OR

This is a Refresher Course meant for people with previous experience on a Vehicle-Mounted Lift Truck, who need to be retested to renew their licence.
