Audience
Managers and supervisors within the construction industry. It is also likely to prove useful for those concerned with the management of buildings, who may need to ensure that contractors are working safely.
Objectives
At the end of the course delegates will be able to attend the certificate examination, conduct a safety inspection of the workplace and produce a report on appropriate, cost effective remedial actions.
Course Structure
The course consists of 2 taught units NGC1: The Management of Health and Safety and NCC1 Managing and controlling hazards in construction activities.
The first unit of the Construction Certificate is drawn from the management of health and safety aspects of the NEBOSH National General Certificate and is examined by the management paper from the National General Certificate.
Exemptions*
Those who have achieved the: NGC1, National General Certificate Paper A1, NEBOSH National Diploma Unit A, NEBOSH Diploma Part 1 or NEBOSH Diploma Part 2 within the last 5 years will only have to take and pass the second Unit of the Construction Certificate to achieve the new qualification and the Construction Practical Assessment to achieve the new qualification.
Assessment of the Course
Course members complete two written examination papers each of 2 hours duration and a practical test (NCC2) involving a safety inspection of a workplace (½ hour duration) and the preparation of a report following the inspection (1 ½ hours duration).
Successful candidates will be awarded the NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety and Health. *Unless Exemptions Apply, see above.
Course Length
The course consists of 13 lecture days, 2 half days of written examinations and the practical test. This course can be delivered in company.
