The Diploma in Management Consultancy is awarded by the Chartered Management Institute in conjunction with the Institute of Business Consulting, the leading professional body for consultants.
This qualification has been developed for people who either wish to enter management consultancy having gained expertise in their own functional area or senior/middle management; and experienced practitioners who now want to develop the skills to lead a consultancy intervention and to work closely with clients to achieve organisational change.
It is suitable for anyone with sound and extensive knowledge of the business world who wishes to understand and develop their professional consultancy skills. Although there are no formal entry requirements, participants will be expected to have an appreciation of management theories and concepts and be able to demonstrate their ability to study and work at degree level and have 3+ years’ suitable business/consultancy experience.
Achieving the diploma will identify you as a qualified practitioner, providing clients with assurances that you are appropriately qualified and adhere to high professional standards. As a recognised qualification, the diploma will add value to your CV and career potential and with complementary membership with the Institute of Business Consulting, you will gain access to a network of fellow professionals and resources.

The purpose of this programme is to explore the role of the management consultant and how to manage and lead consultancy interventions within ethical and professional standards and boundaries.
It considers the skills, knowledge and professional behaviours required by an effective consultant. It includes an overview of the nature of organisational development including structure and culture, and examines in detail the phases of the consultancy process introducing a range of tools, skills and techniques to support and lead effective consultancy interventions.
Inter and intra-personal skills are considered through examining issues surrounding group techniques and interpersonal interaction with clients. Management and leadership of projects including risk, quality and tools of strategic analysis are all explored.
The course in delivered through distance learning using specially prepared learning materials. There are ten assessed units to be achieved to obtain the Diploma in Management Consultancy. These will be delivered through eight learning modules. For each module there is a study workbook and assignment of approximately 3000 words
