Course Objectives
This course is suitable for those persons carrying out electrical work in dwellings who have no formal qualifications and seek to register to self certify their work to meet the requirements of the building regulations.
Course In Detail
This is a 5 day intensive course aimed to enable candidates to gain the required competency to allow them to carry out electrical installation work in dwellings in accordance with Part P of the building regulations. With the introduction of Part P, the NICEIC, ECA, Corgi and Summitskills have decided to colaborate and provide this modular training course which is now a national qualification for domestic installers. Although candidates do not require prior knowledge in the form of recognised qualifications, they do need basic literacy and numeracy skills and be aware of basic electrical safety. The course consists of both theory and practice, with written and practical assessments. On successful completion of this intensive course candidates will have gained the necessary skills and competency to join one of the government approved Part P Competent Person Schemes. Registration with such a scheme will allow the self certification of domestic electrical installation work to the building regulations.
